Browns/Jets Tailgate & Game Info from the NYC Browns Backers

Fellow Browns Backers:

There’s been a lot of behind-the-scenes activity for our season opening weekend.  Overall, we need grills, tables, coolers and vehicles (to secure adequate tailgate space).  So please beg, borrow or steal as you can.  The Funbus folks will bring as much propane as we need so please give me a count of how many grills (charcoal or propane) you and your party can provide. Backer Presidents may respond on behalf of their clubs.

Next week I’ll ask about ice and what foodstuffs and beverages everyone can bring.

Here’s a tentative schedule and info on parking and transportation.Items in brown have yet to be confirmed/finalized so please stay tuned for updated details.  Highlighted items may require a response from you about your party or your club.

8:30a.m. — Early bird caravan meets in parking lot of the Hampton Inn, Carlstadt, NJ (0.6 miles from stadium)
     304 Patterson Plank Road – Carlstadt, NJ 07072
9:00a.m. — Caravan heads into the stadium for Tailgate 2015 (Lot L)
1:00p.m. — Brows vs Jets

PARKING

You will need a Pre-Paid Parking Permit to park at MetLife stadium.
Charter bus parking is located in Lot L, where we will meet up with the Funbus coming from Ohio.

For Lot L you will need a yellow parking permit.

The portal to purchase parking passes should be working soon.  I will check on that Monday.

TRANSPORTATION
There are several transportation options but many aren’t available until after 10a.m.  Therefore, I am negotiating with two bus vendors to provide a bus that will leave from Manhattan around 8:00a.m. to meet the caravan into the stadium.

If you or someone you know would be interested in such a service please let me know how many seats are requested.  This way I can negotiate a good per person rate.

NOTE:  If you have a car and would be willing to drive and take other Browns fans, who would chip in for gas and parking, please let me know. We need vehicles!

DIRECTIONS
-by car
from the Lincoln Tunnel: Follow Route 3 west to Route 120 north.
from the George Washington Bridge: Follow Interstate 95 south to the New Jersey Turnpike. Take the western spur to the Sports Complex exit - 16W. This exit provides direct access to the Sports Complex parking areas.
            
-by train – doesn’t begin until 10a.m.
from 34 St-Herald Square StationTransfer to a Hoboken-bound PATH train on the mezzanine level. PATH accepts Pay-Per-Ride MetroCard. Get off at the Hoboken PATH Station and walk upstairs to the NJ Transit Rail Station. Buy a ticket to MetLife Sports Complex Station and locate your train to the game.

from 34 St-Penn StationGo to any NJ Transit station clerk or Ticket Vending Machine, and buy a round-trip ticket to MetLife Station. Look on the departure boards for the next NJ Transit train that stops at Secaucus Junction Station. The screen will say "SEC" next to the line name.  Board that train and ride it to Secaucus Junction, and then use your ticket to transfer via the escalators to the MetLife Service.

from 42 St-Port Authority Bus TerminalCoach USA will be providing the 351 Meadowlands Express bus service from the Port Authority to the Sports Complex for all Jets home games. This bus service was provided by New Jersey Transit in the past. The 351 bus service will begin two and one half (2 1/2) hours prior to the start of a game and will continue to run until one half hour (1/2) after the start of a game. The 351 bus line will be operational for approximately two (2) hours following the conclusion of the game. Drop-off and pick-up at MetLife Stadium is located near Parking Lot K.
